Now that Sony has officially launched the PlayStation 5, PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting a little more bang for their buck. Instead of only having two free games to look forward to every month, PS Plus subscribers can claim three for their digital libraries, typically consisting of two PS4 titles and one PS5 game. While those still stuck on PS4 are missing out on one of the free games, those on PS5 have access to all three thanks to the console's backward compatibility with the PS4.

But Sony has been changing how it operates PS Plus beyond just adding a new PS5 game to the mix. It has also included some games for longer periods of time than just one month. For instance, PS5 launch game Bugsnax was available as a free PS Plus game for two months, having just been removed from the service earlier this week. Looking ahead, Destruction AllStars is scheduled to be a free PS Plus game for February 2021, and that game is also scheduled to be available to PS Plus subscribers for a two month period.

With PS Plus games now available on the service for more than one month at a time, it may be a little bit more difficult for subscribers to keep track of what's on the service, what's been removed, and what's coming in the future. So for those who want it all spelled out in one spot, here are all the free PS Plus games available as of January 2021.

On the PlayStation 4 side of things, PS Plus subscribers have two games they can add to their collection. The first is GreedFall, an action-RPG from developer Spiders that is generally considered to be one of the more underrated games of the previous generation. GreedFall earned relatively positive reviews at the time of its release, and has since developed somewhat of a cult following. GreedFall managed to win some awards back in 2019, and a next-gen version is apparently in development as well. Developer Spiders is working on a new game currently known as Steelrising, so PS Plus subscribers can check out GreedFall to see if that title may be something that should be on their radar.

The other free PS4 game available as part of the free PS Plus games for January 2021 lineup is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The third entry in the Tomb Raider reboot series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider introduces some new gameplay mechanics while retaining the general gameplay style established in those two games. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was not quite as well-received as 2013's Tomb Raider reboot or Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it was still met with generally positive review scores at the time of its release. Now PS Plus subscribers can check the game out at no extra cost and judge it for themselves.

Since Sony launched the PlayStation 5, free PS5 games have been part of the free PS Plus games lineup. The first was Bugsnax, which was made available alongside the PS5's launch, with fans able to claim the game for two months instead of just one. Bugsnax was followed up by Worms Rumble, a battle royale take on the classic Worms series that was actually available for both PS4 and PS5 owners.

The third PS5 game that's been made available to PS Plus subscribers in the action-RPG ManeaterManeater is a unique action-RPG where players take on the role of a deadly, evolving shark. It didn't exactly earn widespread critical acclaim, but a lot of praise was given to its unique concept and sense of humor. The next-gen version of Maneater has some big upgrades when compared to the previous gen version of the game, which may make it a somewhat superior experience.

Besides the new free games that are added every month, PS Plus subscribers also have access to the PlayStation Plus Collection. The PlayStation Plus Collection is exclusive to PS5 owners, and it gives them access to some of the most critically-acclaimed titles that ever released for the PS4. Sony has not said definitively if new games will be added to the PlayStation Plus Collection or if titles will be removed, but if titles are removed, fans will still be able to keep them in their collection.

There are some notable PS4 games missing from the PlayStation Plus Collection lineup, so perhaps they will be cycled in at some point in the future. For now, though, PS Plus subscribers should be plenty busy getting through the existing lineup of games.
