PlayStation Plus subscribers across PS4 and PS5 can now claim the free PS Plus games for December 2022. The first Tuesday of every month is an exciting time to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, as that's when the previous month's games are cycled out and a fresh batch of games is added for subscribers to check out.

The free PS Plus games for November 2022 have now departed the service, meaning PS Plus subscribers are able to claim a new set of games for December 2022. The free PS Plus games for December 2022 consist of three games as usual, though one of the games is a collection comprising three titles total, meaning subscribers are technically being treated to five total games this month.

From today until January 2, 2023, PS Plus subscribers can claim Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Biomutant, and Divine Knockout. All three games are available to play on PS4 and PS5, with Biomutant and Divine Knockout having native PlayStation 5 releases. There's only a PS4 version of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition available, but it's still playable on the PS5 thanks to the console's backward compatibility feature.

  • Mass Effect: Legendary Edition (PS4)
  • Biomutant (PS4/PS5)
  • Divine Knockout (PS4/PS5)

Out of all the free PS Plus games for December 2022, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is certainly the headliner. Even without a native PS5 release, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition gives PS Plus subscribers serious value. It includes remastered versions of the original Mass Effect trilogy, letting players experience the entirety of Commander Shepard's story with improved graphics and controls.

Biomutant earned mixed reviews compared to Mass Effect, but it should still be a solid addition to the PS Plus free games lineup. Biomutant, for the uninitiated, is an open world action-RPG where players take control of a highly customizable creature armed with various weapons. Divine Knockout, meanwhile, is notable for being a day one PS Plus release, and its concept is basically Super Smash Bros. in a 3D fighting arena as opposed to the side view that those games typically use.

Those who are subscribed to the pricier PS Plus tiers should have even more to look forward to later this month. While Sony has not yet revealed the new games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium, it's been leaked that the PSP version of Star Wars Battlefront 2 could be on the way. PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers should wait for an official announcement before getting too excited, though.
