After some solid months of PlayStation Plus, followed by some mediocre ones, fans have been unsure what to expect from the final PlayStation Plus game drop of 2021. A recent breakdown of PlayStation Plus in 2021 shows evidence of the service continuing to be pretty valuable, with users receiving thousands of dollars in free games across the PS4, PS5, and PS VR. November was a pretty big month for PlayStation Plus as there was six available games for download, as opposed to the traditional three split between the PS4 and PS5. The additional games come from the fifth anniversary of the PS VR, with PlayStation giving users three games for the hardware.

Free PS Plus Games for December 2021 List

  • Godfall: Challenger Edition (PS4/PS5)
  • Lego DC Super Villains (PS4)
  • Mortal Shell (PS4)

Godfall had a pretty underwhelming response by players and critics when it launched in 2020, with a primary reason being its price point. This along with Mortal Shell, a better received game that lacked exposure, will benefit from their features in the December PS Plus lineup, as the price of entry is completely mitigated, and players can try them with zero monetary risk. LEGO DC Super Villains will also benefit to a certain extent, though the LEGO series of games has proven itself to be consistently popular.

After a couple of months that didn't leave a big impression on users, the December lineup for PS Plus has the makeup for a strong outing during the holiday season. Ahead of Elden Ring in February, the December PS Plus selection should delight Souls fans, with the action heavy games of Godfall and Mortal Shell. More generally, all of these games now have the opportunity to be played by more people, which at the end of the day, is what PlayStation Plus is all about.
