Starting Tuesday, April 5, and until Monday, May 2, PS Plus subscribers will have three new games to claim and add to their digital libraries. The headlining game is Hood: Outlaws & Legends, a PvP multiplayer game that first launched in May of last year. Hood: Outlaws & Legends is not even a year old yet, which makes it an interesting addition to the free PS Plus games lineup, though it did earn mixed reviews at launch.
Both the PS4 and PS5 versions of Hood: Outlaws & Legends will be available for PS Plus subscribers to claim. Meanwhile, PS Plus subscribers also have Slay the Spire and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated to look forward to in April. Slay the Spire is likely the best of the bunch, as the roguelike deck-building game earned rave reviews from critics, though SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated may appeal to nostalgia-minded gamers.

The free PS Plus games for April 2022 come just after Sony has announced dramatic changes to the service. Starting sometime in June, Sony will be introducing new PS Plus subscription tiers in the form of PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. These new tiers will combine PS Plus with PlayStation Now on top of adding new games, including blockbusters like God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man.
PS Plus Premium, meanwhile, will include access to retro games from across the PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 generations. Specific titles have not been announced at the time of this writing, but more should come to light as we get closer to the launch of the PS Plus subscription tiers later this year.
