PlayStation Plus subscribers know that the first Tuesday of every month brings with it a fresh batch of new free games to claim. As expected, Tuesday, April 5 has brought PlayStation Plus subscribers three new games that they can claim now and add to their digital libraries.
The free PS Plus games for April 2022 are headlined by Hood: Outlaws & Legends, a multiplayer-centric medieval fantasy game inspired by Robin Hood. Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a cross-gen game, but instead of only one version being available as subscribers have seen in the past, both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game are available for PS Plus subscribers to claim for April 2022. This way PS5 gamers can check out the version that properly takes advantage of the new console's added horsepower, while those on PS4 don't have to feel left out.
Also available to PS Plus subscribers as of Tuesday, April 5 is Slay the Spire. Slay the Spire is a roguelike deck-building game that earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release in 2019. While Hood: Outlaws & Legends may be the more high profile game when it comes to the free PS Plus games for April 2022, Slay the Spire is the one with the highest review scores, so fans should definitely make it a point to claim it while it's free.

And finally, the third game that's available to PS Plus subscribers in April 2022 is SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated for PS4. SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a remake of the 2003 game SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom that incorporates a multiplayer mode and other new content for fans to check out.
PS Plus subscribers can simply claim the games for their library without actually downloading them to their consoles, but the good news is that none of the games have particularly large file sizes. The free PS Plus games for April 2022 file sizes are all fairly reasonable, with none of them taking up an egregious amount of space.
April 2022 will mark one of the last times that PS Plus subscribers will have a traditional month of new free games. In June, Sony is looking to completely revamp PS Plus by introducing new pricing tiers that will shake up the free games players get every month. For now, PS Plus subscribers can claim their monthly free games and wait to learn what May 2022 will have in store.
