The month of September is a big one for gamers, as it marks the beginning of an exciting fall season, packed with numerous highly-anticipated games, including Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, and Halo 5: Guardians. In just over a week, things really kick off with Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain, which has already received glowing reviews from critics.

Of course, September is also chock-full of free games for console owners. PlayStation 4 players, in particular, have a lot to look forward to, as they were able to vote on one of the free PlayStation Plus games coming to PS4 this next month. The results are in: Grow Home was the top selection and will be free on PS4 early next month.

As we noted a week ago, PlayStation took a detour from its normal method of announcing free PS Plus games, and decided to let gamers vote through a new program they call “Vote to Play”. For those curious, the other choices for September were Armello and Zombie Vikings.

Although Armello and Zombie Vikings didn’t win the vote, PlayStation 4 owners can still buy the games with a 30 percent discount from September 1st through the 15th in the PlayStation Store.

While there are surely some gamers who are disappointed by the vote's results, most PlayStation gamers should be happy they can influence future PS Plus choices. With the first Vote to Play a success, it’s likely more PlayStation gamers will get in on the voting in coming months.

Besides Grow Home, Sony also revealed the other PS Plus free games for September. PS4 owners can pick up Super Time Force Ultra, a unique action platformer that lets players run through levels, rewind time when they die, and go through the level again with a “time clone.” Released a year ago, Super Time Force quickly grew in popularity among platformer fans, so the game will likely receive many downloads on PS4.

PS4 players can also nab Xeodrifter and Teslagrad. In Xeodrifter, players explore alien planets in an effort to find secrets that will help them return home. While Teslagrad is a side-scroller platform game that challenges players with increasingly difficult puzzles.

The full set of September’s PS Plus free games will be available beginning the first Tuesday of the month in the PlayStation Store.
