Frank Grillo, who played Brock Rumlow in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame, is currently promoting his upcoming action thriller Boss Level. The 55-year-old action star recently managed to get Dwayne  Johnson, a.k.a. "The Rock," to promote his Hulu film on social media.

Boss Level follows a retired Special Forces officer, named Roy Pulver (Grillo), who is stuck in a never-ending time loop on the day of his death. Pulver is forced to fend off several assassins while he tries to make sense of what is happening to him. The Grey’s Joe Carnahan directed the film for Hulu and the project features an impressive ensemble cast that includes Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Michelle Yeoh, Annabelle Wallis, Ken Jeong, and NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski.

Grillo became a household name amongst MCU fans after he starred as the villainous Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War. Crossbones notably died at the end of Civil War after he triggered his explosive vest in an attempt to kill Captain America, but Grillo was able to reprise the role in Avengers: Endgame on account of the heroes traveling back in time to when the character had yet to reveal his villainous nature. However, Grillo recently shut down rumors that he’d return to the MCU. “They’re done with me,” said the actor to Variety. “Because of the way the stories wound up being told and just how big the stories became, the Crossbones of it wasn’t really part of the future of the Avengers.” Gillo previously stated that Marvel wasn’t in his career trajectory anymore and that he’s outgrown “that whole kind-of Marvel and superhero thing.”

Grillo has a whopping eight movies scheduled for 2021 and is currently promoting Boss Level, which debuts on Hulu in March. Together with Carnahan, Grillo recently made a hilarious video together in which they try to get Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to promote their film on his social media. In the clip, the director convinces Grillo to dance outside shirtless while holding The Rock’s Teremana Tequila. Their shameless marketing tactic was a success, as Dwayne Johnson reposted their video on Instagram. In the caption, he said, “Frank Grillo is not only one of Hollywood’s BEST action stars, but he’s a legit badass who embodies the mantra of #HardestWorkerInTheRoom. Here’s to an EPIC debut this Friday on Hulu, my brothers.”

Johnson’s highly-anticipated DC film Black Adam will reportedly begin filming this April. The blockbuster is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. The ancient Egyptian anti-hero, created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, was one of the main arch-enemies of Shazam in the comics.

The Rock was originally slated to play the character in 2019’s Shazam! until DC Films decided to give Black Adam his own franchise. A Shazam! sequel is currently in development with Zachary Levi attached to reprise his role as the titular hero, but there's no official word on whether or not The Rock's Black Adam will confront his adversary this time.

Boss Level will be released on Hulu on March 5, 2021.
