The next entry in the Forza Motorsport franchise that was shown off at the recent Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct will be playable on Xbox One consoles, but only through Xbox Game Pass' cloud features. The upcoming racing sim is built to take full advantage of the Xbox Series X and is reported to run at 4K 60FPS on the platform with impressive photorealistic visuals by leveraging the ray tracing capabilities of Microsoft's flagship console.
The Xbox One is starting to get long in the tooth and will turn 10 years old in November 2023. While it is still getting some games a decade after it launched, developers are leaving the Xbox One behind to instead focus on creating impressive new-gen titles. The new Forza Motorsport is the 8th entry in the main series - for some context, Forza Motorsport 5 was an Xbox One launch title.
The upcoming Forza Motorsport game will be playable on Xbox One, but only through Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This development might be disappointing to some fans of Microsoft's flagship racer since the Xbox Cloud Gaming service requires a stable high-speed internet connection and is only available in select countries. It has also been confirmed that Forza Motorsport will be included with Game Pass. The new game has been described by the Forza Support Team as the most technically advanced and authentic racing game it has ever made in the January 2023 update featured on the official site.
It's not all doom and gloom for Xbox One as 2023 gets underway; gamers who are holding out on upgrading to new-generation consoles still have plenty of new releases to look forward to. At any rate, the new Forza Motorsport was only announced for Xbox Series X/S and PC and will likely have some lofty requirements that make it impossible for the Xbox One to run it natively. Xbox Cloud Gaming has come a long way in the last few years; even though it might not be the ideal way to experience racing games, the news that Forza Motorsport will be made available on the cloud will no doubt please those who use the service.
Bringing Forza Motorsport to the cloud gaming platform also means that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to enjoy the game on a multitude of other devices, such as tablets, mobile phones, and Samsung smart TVs. Forza Motorsport doesn't have a fixed release date as yet, but at this time is scheduled for release sometime in 2023.
