Forza Motorsport 5 failed to live up to fan expectations, and is the lowest-rated game in the racing game franchise. Forza Motorsport 6 was a return to form for the series, earning strong reviews across the board and standing as one of the better-received racing games of this generation. However, those who want to play the game digitally or get its DLC have a limited time to do so, as it will soon be delisted.
Forza Motorsport 6 will be delisted from digital marketplaces beginning September 15. This is due to car licenses expiring, and is something that racing game fans should come to expect. However, with Forza Motorsport 6 and its DLC being delisted, Microsoft has made it pretty easy to get the game and all of its DLC before it's gone.
For one, Forza Motorsport 6 is one of the free Games with Gold for August 2019. It will actually be available to download for Gold subscribers until it's delisted on September 15, so there's still plenty of time to claim the game. Secondly, all of Forza Motorsport 6's DLC, which would normally cost a whopping $100, has been discounted to just $5.
For racing game fans, this is a pretty great deal. Forza Motorsport 6 is an even more complete package now than it was at launch, and includes all kinds of free DLC on top of the paid DLC, like a Fallout 4-themed car, for instance.
In the future, we can expect something similar to happen with Forza Motorsport 7, the latest game in the Forza main series. Considering this, those who haven't yet picked it up may be patient enough to wait for it to be delisted so that they can get it and all its DLC cheap as well. By that time, it's quite likely that Forza Motorsport 8, which is rumored to be in active development for Project Scarlett, will be out and available to the masses.
The Forza series has been an annual franchise for quite some time, but there won't be a new entry in 2019 for the main series or the Horizon spinoff. Microsoft is giving Turn 10 Studios time to truly make an impression with the next main series Forza Motorsport game, and it will be exciting to see how it turns out.
