One of the best things about the Forza Horizon series is that it can make any car in the game feel like it's the player's own. From changing the appearance of the car to adjusting the tire pressure, the rich customization system will teach newcomers and veterans something new. Apart from letting players drive the cars of their dreams, Forza's upgrading mechanics can make a car very different from the another player's version of the same model.

Upgrading cars, though, can be overwhelming at the beginning for most with all the different options. For players who don't know where to start, it's a good idea to follow these tips and make a car the best for the individual.

5 Focus On Braking & Acceleration

These two factors in Forza Horizon 5 play an important role, especially for players using launch control. This system is only present in manual transmission cars, which can be tuned. Slower cars can win races against faster cars if their acceleration is better; thus, looking into this area when upgrading will do wonders. So if players want to win drag races, paying attention to this area when tuning is important. The fewer times players shift in gears (especially the higher ones), the faster they can achieve top speeds and win races

Braking is equally as important. Stock brakes on most cars usually require more care and timing, but upgrading them gives players a little more leeway, especially with cars that aren't built for the road. Forza Horizon offers many types of brake packages if players don't spend time on them, but also gives players freedom the finely tune the brakes to give them what they want.

4 Auto Upgrades

For players who don't know much about car mechanics, this feature allows players to upgrade their cars without having to look in-depth into each component. When selecting this option, Forza Horizon shows the player what they'll get and how much power is added. One issue, while not a big one, is that using the auto-upgrade feature, the system will put the car in another class. For example, if a car is on the tail end of the S class, which is 900, it'll be put into S1.

This can be annoying for players that want to race with the car they auto-upgraded, but can't since it's out of that recommended list. With that in mind, this feature should be used sparingly and with much slower cars at the start, although players can still tweak the upgrades afterwards.

3 Add Weight

This tip is a bit of a mixed bag depending on what type of car players are driving. For those driving some of the fastest cars Forza Horizon 5 offers, then adding some weight may be a good idea. Because those cars have very little control at high speeds, making racing more difficult, adding a body kit or heavier components can help. This give the car more grip on the road, allowing it to zip around with ease.

However, players should note that adding weight can hinder the performance of the car. Compromising on this will help players win more races with quicker and faster cars. Taking out weight can be good as well, so players should look at the pros and cons from both sides of this adjustment. In the end, it comes down to the car players are driving. Test often before doing any races.

2 Earn Enough Credits

There’s not one definitive way of upgrading cars in Forza Horizon 5, so players will be spending much of their time testing out their adjustments. Experimenting by buying upgrades or getting packages can be expensive over time. The good thing, though, is that Forza Horizon 5 gives players XP points for almost everything, whichcan be turned into money.

Credits shouldn't be in short supply, provided players don't spend them all in one place. If players don't have any concerns about buying many cars, those resources can be allocated to upgrades rather than a new car. This way, players can invest their time into a car they like, and make it perform better than any new car they could get.

1 Tuning

Buying upgrades is one part of the setup, and tuning is the other half. While it can be intimidating for players who don't know cars, players shouldn't let that deter them from using it. Tuning allows players to further enhance each part, make them work better without having to swap out more expensive parts. If players are confused by the tuning department (which isn't uncommon among players who aren't car people in real life), they can use the community tuning feature.

This feature is great because other players can upload the tuning setups they have tried and tested, and allow other players to use them without the headache of experimenting. Tuning is a great way to make a car better for any given and make those fine adjustments on top of their upgrading, so if players have a V12 engine in their car, they can tune it to perform better than out of the box.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
