Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios have yet to confirm the existence of Forza Horizon 5, but some industry insiders are already teasing potential locations, or rather suggesting locations that won't be featured in the next open-world racing title in the franchise.

Playground Games isn't ready to unveil Forza Horizon 5, let alone confirm a location, but Jeff Grubb from Venture Beat and Xbox insider Klobrille have both discussed on Twitter that the open-world racing title won't be set in Japan. Playtest invites for the next Forza Motorsport title are already being sent out to Xbox Insiders, suggesting an upcoming announcement.

Some Xbox Insiders are already teasing their friends, family, and fans about the fact that they know the location of the upcoming Forza Horizon, but Jeff Grubb and Klobrille have only confirmed that it isn't set in Japan. Nobody has teased what location the next open-world racing title from Playground Games will take place in, but the rumors about it being in Japan are unfounded.

A previous leak suggested that Forza Horizon 5 would take place in Asia, and although Japan is in the Asian region, Jeff Grubb and Klobrille haven't denied other potential parts of Asia being featured in the next installment in the series. According to other rumors, Forza Horizon 5 will release before the already confirmed Forza Motorsport, and that it may release as early as later this year.

Jeff Grubb and Klobrille have both suggested that Forza Horizon 5 will release later this year, but haven't suggested a timeline. Traditionally, Forza Horizon titles release in September, so Playground Games may be well into development on the open-world racing title. Klobrille has gone even further in teaser territory than Jeff Grubb, claiming that they "might have an idea' where Forza Horizon 5 is set.

Forza Horizon 4 found success on Steam and Xbox One, being set in the rolling hills, lakesides, and long stretches of farmland that compose the landscape of the Great Brittain. The title released two years after Forza Horizon 3 in 2018, while that sequel followed its predecessor by two years as well. This development timeline suggests that Playground Games is at least getting ready to announce Forza Horizon 5.

Other locations that the Forza Horizon series has already featured include Colorado (USA), Southern Europe, and Australia. Playground Games won't likely be revisiting these places anytime soon. Since neither Jeff Grubb nor Klobrille claimed that Forza Horizon 5 doesn't focus on Asia, it could be set in other countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam.
