Forza Horizon 5's launch in November this past year was heralded as the biggest Xbox launch in the company's history. Since then, excitement surrounding the open-world racing game has faded somewhat as Forza Horizon 5's live service elements were found lacking, but fans knew it was just a matter of time before Playground Games had more to share. Those expectations may soon be met, it seems, as a recent leak hints that Forza Horizon 5's first DLC expansion could be arriving soon.

The leak comes from Twitter user Aggiornamenti Lumia, who covers Microsoft and Xbox-related topics. Aggiornamenti Lumia says that they've found a surprising new release in the Xbox Insider Hub, Microsoft's platform for issuing content for pre-launch testing. A reference named "WOODSTOCK_DLC_FLIGHT" was apparently discovered in the Xbox Insider Hub. At first, that name may appear cryptic, but it's truly a reference to what's expected to be Fora Horizon 5's first expansion.

"DLC_FLIGHT" is quite clearly understood. Xbox refers to its testing runs as "flights" and DLC speaks for itself. The key word then is "WOODSTOCK," which has no meaning at face value. However, it's already well-reported that Woodstock is the codename that Playground Games and Xbox used for Forza Horizon 5 internally. As such, the Xbox Insider Hub leak is saying clearly that this is a test flight for Forza Horizon 5's DLC.

There's no further information to share at this time regarding Forza Horizon 5's first expansion, unfortunately. Playground Games has yet to share any official details regarding release windows for its planned Forza Horizon 5 expansions. The content of the expansion is also a mystery, as Playground Games is known to have been especially creative with its expansions for prior Forza games.

What is currently known is that Forza Horizon 5 will have at least two official expansions eventually. Forza Horizon 5 launched with an Expansions Bundle that includes the two DLCs for $34.99, promising that each would include a new location, vehicles, and "gameplay." Further, Playground Games promised that the DLC would arrive, "when they become available." That's obviously unhelpful, but honest.

All Forza Horizon 5 fans can do is wait and see. The Xbox Insider Hub leak would appear to imply that the first Forza Horizon 5 expansion is in a playable state and testing, which could mean it's arriving sooner rather than later. Yet nothing is official until it's official. If an announcement is coming soon, expect an Xbox event of some sort to be announced in the relatively near future.

Forza Horizon 5 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
