Forza Horizon 5 is finally available for all to play, and fans are already having a blast—that is, as long as they are playing by themselves. Many players are reporting that Forza Horizon 5 is crashing when trying to use Discord's screen share feature.

Despite releasing in full capacity today, Forza Horizon 5 has already been doing numbers across the game industry, bringing in a million players before Xbox Game Pass or launch editions. The game is receiving critical acclaim across the board, it being touted as the definitive Forza Horizon experience and, in some cases, even the greatest racing game ever made. Xbox has made accessibility a point of interest in recent years, whether through the highly customizable Adaptive Controller or simply offering gamers a variety of ways to play its games like on PC or mobile, no longer being relegated to a console. Even deaf gamers will be able to enjoy Forza Horizon 5 with its innovative sign language support—they just can't share their screen through Discord, though.

Forza Horizon 5 players are reporting that the game crashes when trying to use Discord's screen share feature. One such player is sebastian240z, who posted to the official Forza subreddit asking if other players were experiencing similar issues, and sure enough, this is not an isolated issue. Discord is listed as a software application on the official Forza Support page that "can cause the game to either fail to launch or crash while playing," with Playground Games, suggesting players disable or uninstall the software for an optimal gameplay experience. People in the replies indicate that this issue was present with Forza Horizon 4 in 2018.

Some people in the comments also offer workarounds until Playground Games releases a potential fix. One method is to use Discord Canary, a developer build of the popular communication software, which seems to be working without a problem after downloading.

Players can also try running Discord as an administrator, though this solution seems to be less reliable. Lastly, players could simply stream their screen and not the game specifically, but doing so will cost them Forza Horizon 5's audio.

While it may seem negligible, this is a pretty problematic issue for those looking to share Forza Horizon 5 with their friends. It is truthfully somewhat baffling that such a popular application like Discord actually prevents Forza Horizon 5 from playing successfully; one would think if there was any third-party app that should be fully compatible with Forza Horizon 5 (or any game for that matter) it would be Discord. Forza Horizon 5 is 2021's new highest-rated game, and for now, players will have to keep it to themselves.

Forza Horizon 5 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
