Forza Horizon 5 has attracted millions of fans during its official launch week. However, new players might be a little overwhelmed by the Forza franchise's infamous menu navigation, so this guide will detail exactly how to buy and sell cars.

It's important to know exactly how to buy and sell cars in Forza Horizon 5, because many campaign and Festival Playlist events require players to complete tasks in a very specific car, and sometimes a certain class of car as well. Selling can net players extra credits to spend on more cars, houses, tunings, or cosmetic items.

How to Buy Cars in Forza Horizon 5

Cars can be bought at either the Autoshow or Auction House menus in Forza Horizon 5. To get to these options, press pause by using the Menu button and tab to "Buy and Sell" with LB/RB on Xbox consoles. Forza Horizon 5 may be 2021's highest-rated game, but the franchise has unfortunately always been loaded with clunky menus.

The Autoshow contains standard car models that can be bought outright for a set price with Credits. It doesn't sell every car, like unique Barn Finds in Forza Horizon 5, but it still contains a large roster to choose from. Press Y on Xbox consoles to narrow the search down with useful filters like if players can afford the car, if they own it or not, and what class and type they would like. Pressing the View button on consoles will bring up the Manufacturer list, so players can search for one specific vehicle easier.

The Auction House is a place where players can buy a car from others. It is sometimes more useful than purchasing from the Autoshow, because cars can be obtained pre-tuned, at a higher class rank than what is available from the Autoshow. This is often cheaper than buying a car and a separate tuning for that car. It also sells cars unique to Barn Finds and Accolades, like vehicles needed to complete certain Drift Zones in Forza Horizon 5. The Auction House is also found under the "Buy and Sell" menu while on the pause screen.

Once clicked, the Auction House will ask players to make a specific search. Players can input the exact make and model they are after, and set a maximum bid, or they can just search by performance class or car type. Cars can be bought outright for a set price, or by bidding against other players. Searching for fast cars to unlock hard-to-reach Bonus Boards in Forza Horizon 5 like in Los Jardines is just one good use of the Auction House.

How to Sell Cars in Forza Horizon 5

To sell a car in Forza Horizon 5, players must go to the Auction House. This is located under the "Buy and Sell" tab on the pause screen. Click on "Start Auction," and then press "Auction Car" after selecting which vehicle to part with. There is a maximum starting and buyout price associated with each individual car.

Players will also be asked to select an auction length, which can only be held for 24 hours at a maximum. Press confirm to start the auction. Selling cars is useful if players bought one for a specific task, like taking a picture in front of Star 27's Mural in Mulege, but isn't needed again anytime soon.

If a car has sold, players will receive a message within "Auction Alerts" from the Auction House menu. Credits must be claimed within 60 days of purchase, or they disappear with no other way to claim them. With so many players already making Forza Horizon 5 a massive success for Xbox, there should be plenty of cars to buy and sell in between exploring the gorgeous Mexican terrain.
