Microsoft has pulled the curtain back on the next major expansion for Forza Horizon 3, confirming that the additional content will be based on a crossover that features Mattel's Hot Wheels line of toy cars. As one would expect from a racing add-on pack that breathes new life into the longstanding Hot Wheels brand, there are ample orange loops and a handful a familiar cars that gamers can hop into and drive around in.

The new DLC, appropriately titled Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels, is set to arrive on May 9, 2017 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC owners. Ringing in at $19.99USD (although it's also available as part of the game's season pass), players will be able to take to the skies on the iconic orange tracks in the game's immense open world, as the entirety of the pack takes place on islands just off the coast of Australia. Additionally, fans will be able to tear up the plastic speedways in a handful of notorious Hot Wheel vehicles like the Twin Mill, the Rip Rod, the Bone Shaker, and seven others.

Those wanting to see what sort of surprises are lurking in the new Forza Horizon 3 expansion can so below.

While the addition of a tyrannosaurus-rex at the end of the video ensures that the zaniness of Hot Wheels will remain intact, it's obvious that this property mashup was something that Playground Games believed would only better the experience for fans. Given the popularity of the metallic cars – not to mention a willingness to feature other properties like Halo's Warthog in Forza Horizon 3 – this seemed like an inevitability, albeit one that gamers are hopefully delighted to see.

Forza Horizon 3 is currently available on Xbox One and Windows 10. The Hot Wheels expansion will launch for both aforementioned platforms on May 9, 2017.
