Although Forza Motorsport 7's release date leaked just before Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference, the company was still able to wow fans at the convention and those streaming the showcase live at home with a high-octane gameplay reveal trailer for the forthcoming racing title that's set to drop on October 3, 2017. As many expected, Microsoft relied heavily on the title as a means to display all of the power and graphical fidelity that will come from playing games on the Xbox One X – that is, the official name for Microsoft's Project Scorpio console.

As mentioned during Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference and touched on in the trailer below, Forza Motorsport 7 is being developed by franchise mainstays Turn 10 Studios and it will feature native 4K graphics on the Xbox One X. Not to mention, it will feature more than 700 cars for players to drive on a plethora of different tracks.

The reveal of Forza Motorsport 7 didn't really come as much of a surprise to most fans of the racing franchise. After all, Turn 10’s in-house engine, ForzaTech, was a major focal point of Microsoft’s initial reveal of the then-Project Scorpio’s technology back in April of this year. Plus, its existence was leaked several months ago by wheel manufacturer Fanatec, after a post on the company’s forums from CEO Thomas Jackermeier confirmed the game.

All things considered, with Microsoft leading its Xbox E3 2017 games presentation off with Forza Motorsport 7, it's obvious the company holds a lot of faith in the racing game franchise's ability to draw in fans, and could possibly be a title that helps to sell the Xbox One X when it releases. Of course, many might simply stick to purchasing the next installment in the auto-sports series and play it on Xbox One, as there may be many who are hesitant to touch Xbox One X's $500 price tag.

Forza Motorsport 7 is slated to release on October 3, 2017 for Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Windows 10 PC.
