Microsoft’s showing at E3 2015 has been impressive to say the least, and that’s mostly due in part to the slew of top-notch exclusives that they’ll be releasing for the Xbox One. With popular shooters like Halo 5: Guardians and Gears of War 4 leading the charge for console supremacy, Microsoft also has plans to take control of the racing game fan demographic with Forza Motorsports 6.
While Microsoft certainly has competition in similar titles such as EA’s Need for Speed, the company has definitely proven that they have a respectable racing release of their own after revealing a fast-paced and ridiculously clean-looking trailer for Forza Motorsports 6 at E3 2015. The gameplay trailer shows off smooth Xbox One in-game footage of sports cars zipping by on dynamic racetrack terrains—that is, some set in the dead of night, some slick with rain, and some that are built into cities below brightly colored favelas. Also, the video boasts that the game will have 26 world-famous destinations, will have graphics that run at 1080P and 60FPS, will give players over 450 vehicles from which to choose, and will include multiplayer with 24 cars.
Forza Motorsports 6 was announced back in January of this year by way of a trailer focusing on the all-new Ford GT, and with it came speculation from most people that all of the details about the upcoming entry to the critically-acclaimed racing series would be revealed at E3 2015. However, Xbox’s Japanese site leaked screenshots of the game last week, and less than five days ago, Amazon’s French site spilled the beans a little too early and revealed pre-order listings for the game that showed a tentative release date.
A few months back, it was verified that Forza Motorsports 6 was shooting for a holiday 2015 release, but now, as the game’s E3 trailer confirms, the title will be available on September 15th of this year. After being bumped up in schedule and with Microsoft proclaiming Forza 6 to be “the busiest and biggest in Forza history”, it will be interesting to see what the game developers have in store for racing game fans this time around, especially if Turn 10 Studios plan on including ever-contentious microtransactions that were a feature in Forza 5.
