At last, the downtime comes to an end, and the Fortnite servers are back up. Fortnite 10.40 update just went live, and the new update brings a lot of fresh content to the game. Epic Games shared the patch notes, and so far the most significant additions to the game are improvements in aim sensitivity and matchmaking. But, the update also brings extra content, including the whole new Starry Suburbs location to the Fortnite map, and the new location brings with it a whole new “never-before-seen” weapon.

The new aim settings are paired with a game mode called The Combine. This new game mode is a simple test shooting range where players can effectively try out the new aiming and control settings without having to play an actual game. Apart from that, new and improved matchmaking will ensure that players always match up with people on a similar skill level.

Epic Games have not added bots to the game yet, but they have just implemented skill-based matchmaking which would improve the overall matchmaking in the game and should often result in fair matches for everyone. Technically, now low-skilled players will match with other low-skilled players while high-skilled players match with each other; however, it remains to be seen how effective the new matchmaking changes really are.

The Starry Suburbs is the new location right next to Pleasant Park, and this new rift zone is going to make wishes come true. According to the patch notes, shooting stars often land in the Starry Suburbs and players can crack open these stars to find weapons and different items. The patch notes have no details regarding a new weapon being added to the game, but it’s stated that players can crush the stars to find a “never-before-seen” weapon.

The new Fortnite update also brings back the Bouncer trap item which will drop in stacks of three from Vending Machines, Llamas, Supply Drops, and Floor Loot. Additionally, the Explosive Batarang and Batman Grapnel Gun have also been added to the Arena and Tournament playlists. To top it all off, players will be able to enjoy a double XP weekend starting from September 27 to September 30.

There are many bug fixes, and UI improvements that come paired with the new update and a whole new limited-time mode called the Zone Wars is also available with randomized inventory items and spawns making each round unique. Players can check out the entire list of patch notes on Epic Games’ official website.

Fortnite is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices.
