Throughout the current season of Fortnite, portals would appear across the map, each one heralding a new crossover with another established and popular franchise. Thanks to datamining, fans have always been able to figure out which franchise the portals have been related to, from The Walking Dead to Street Fighter, but sometimes they're able to get their hands on official images of the new skins that really do give the game away. Case in point: the upcoming Alien skins.

A crossover with the classic sci-fi horror franchise has long been expected, ever since the addition of the Predator, and only yesterday were fans able to deduce that it was what the newest portal was hinting at. But the new skins have now explicitly been shared online ahead of any official announcement and they're exactly what any Alien fan would expect.

The first skin is of a Xenomorph obviously, being the face of the franchise. Its inclusion means players can live out dream crossovers involving Marvel and DC characters or recreate a battle between the Xenomorph and the Predator.

The second skin is also rather unsurprising as it's of Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley, the protagonist of the Alien films. Ripley is another iconic aspect of the franchise and a prominent figure in pop culture, so her exclusion would have raised a lot of eyebrows. Previous datamines suggested, however, that the Alien crossover would only feature a male skin, which was attributed to the Xenomorph, leading some to think that Ripley wouldn't appear at all.

The leaked image doesn't confirm what they're additional accessories (e.g. pickaxe, back bling) are or what they look like, though it may be safe to assume that at least one of them will have a unique emote. Perhaps the Xenomorph extending its second mouth (minus the impaling some poor sap through the head).

Season 5 of Fortnite has been going all out with the crossovers, but with it expected to end mid-March, Epic Games could be slowing down on them soon. There may still be at least one more before the season's over but, obviously, nothing's been confirmed. But plenty of fans are more interested in what the next season will be about. There are theories of some kind of darkness corrupting the portals, a big climactic event involving all the crossover characters similar to Season 4's Galactus event, and the return of the mysterious Cube, dubbed Kevin by fans.

Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
