The latest season of Fortnite has been acquainting gamers with a spectrum of Marvel superheroes. Players with the paid Battle Pass can now earn a unique new costume by finding and defeating the famous mutant, Wolverine.

Wolverine's X-Men costume is now available as a Fortnite skin, though only for Battle Pass holders. Players will need to complete one tricky challenge before unlocking the skin, but once they do, they can enter the fray as one of the most iconic X-Men to date: Wolverine.

To earn Wolverine's costume, challengers will need to locate him on the map and then defeat him. It sounds straightforward enough, but players should remember that Wolverine only appears once per game, and will disappear once any player finishes him off. So in other words, only the first person to defeat this mutant per match can successfully complete the challenge. Coupled with the fact that Wolverine regenerates his health, which is somewhere around 600 by the way, this makes for an admirable task.

Players hunting down this new cosmetic will inevitably have to choose between a dangerous-but-guaranteed encounter with Wolverine at the start of a match, or a potentially safer encounter once the numbers have dwindled. That said, safe players who wait will risk letting another player beat Wolverine for his costume before even finding the loudmouth themselves.

Wolverine is known to hang out around Fortnite's Weeping Woods, though his lack of a set spawn point makes more elusive than other in-game heroes like Iron Man. Players struggling to locate him should be sure to check their surroundings thoroughly (it's not uncommon for him to venture as far as the Slurpy Swamp), or simply assume that he's been defeated by another player. Thankfully, players can at least forage for some shield-granting mushrooms while checking out the woods.

Once located, players then face the true challenge that is this self-healing tank of an opponent. Wolverine's claws are obviously short-ranged, but they pack a serious punch. Shotguns may be a tempting defense because of their output, but Wolverine's enhanced speed and mobility make his high attack power a serious threat. Rare weapons like Black Panther's Kinetic Armor will help, but challengers should overall try and stick to high-power ranged weapons, like assault rifles or snipers, that can safely eat away at his HP from afar.

Of course, if other players are in the area, challengers will have to re-prioritize on the fly. Letting other players distract and damage Wolverine may seem like an enticing strategy, but one step too far and they may finish the mutant off entirely. That said, attacking incoming players while dealing with Wolverine will put a challenger at risk of his swift claws. Once defeated, the challenge will register as completed, and Wolverine's costume will be available in the Locker Room.

Again: keep a good distance, find a reliable weapon, and start skulking around the Weeping Woods. Wolverine's a tough guy with excessive HP, but if players take advantage of his short stature and lack of ranged attacks, he's manageable.

Fortnite is available now on the Epic Games Store, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
