As the days and weeks press on, Epic Games continues to update its free-to-play title, Fortnite Battle Royale, as the studio recently introduced some Wreck-It Ralph crossover content into the game, with the titular Disney character making a cameo at Risky Reels. Now, it looks as if the multiplayer sandbox survival shooter is set to get an even bigger update soon by way of a winter event–that is, if the leak of several audio files are to be believed.

As indicated by the tweet below, snow will most likely be coming to Fortnite's map for the holiday season, as a datamine has uncovered several sound files that contain noises correlating to landing, crouching, walking, and sprinting in snow. While this is all but confirmed, we will still have to wait for the official confirmation from Epic regarding the matter to find out exactly if and when such an update will occur.

While there's definitely a good chance that Epic will be introducing a snowy design style to Fortnite in the coming days and weeks, it remains to be seen if this means the whole map will be getting snow, or if there will only be a certain biome that gets repurposed into a winter wonderland. After all, the addition of snow would certainly be a good way to get players into the seasonal spirit, but it might become too monotonous if there's no variety at all in the look of the game's various landscapes.

Taking all of this into account, it will be interesting to see if Epic Games intends on celebrating the holiday season with a white Christmas in Fortnite, but thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to find out, as December is just around the corner. In the meantime, players can while away the hours until then by tackling the Season 6 Week 9 challenges.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
