Fortnite's Season 7 update is now live, and it's one of the most substantial the increasingly-popular battle royale game has seen yet. Not only does it add an elaborate Creative Mode and transform part of the map into a winter biome, but it also gives players a brand new vehicle to use in the form of the X-4 Stormwing plane.

Like other vehicles in the game, the planes in Fortnite spawn in specific locations on the battle royale map. The planes aren't guaranteed to spawn at these locations every single game, but there's a good chance players will find them there. Planes tend to spawn near red-roofed outposts, which usually have ziplines by them, as well as more obvious areas, like the Frosty Flights runway and hangar.

Here are all the locations planes can spawn in Fortnite that have been discovered so far:

Planes are arguably the biggest game-changer in the Season 7 update. They offer an unprecedented level of mobility in the game, and let players cross large distances on the battle royale map in a short amount of time. So even if players happen to be far outside of the circle, they could potentially spend extra time looting before making a getaway in a plane, which could in turn give them an advantage later in the match.

Planes can also be useful to players who are trying to complete all of the battle pass challenges. In Week 1, there are multiple challenges where players have to reach areas that are on elevated platforms, like the submarine on top of an ice mountain, for instance.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how planes change up the Fortnite dynamic, and how the community will respond. If fans are receptive, perhaps more flying vehicles will be added to Fortnite, and if not, it's possible that planes will be filed away in the vault.

Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
