In the newest round of Fortnite challenges, players will have to find and tame animals that spawn on the map. Like the addition of new Fortnite bosses and mythics for Season 6, the animal spawns look like they will be an important part of the rest of this season. But in order to tame a boar, players will first have to find one.

New Critters on the Map

There are several mobs of new NPC animal spawns on the map. Players can now find wolves, boar, frogs, and chickens. When killed, theses creatures drop materials that can be used for the new crafting in Fortnite, like making cloaks and Primal and Mechanical weapons and upgrades. But each of these creatures can also be tamed to fight on the side of the player that befriends them, giving players an advantage when in melee range.

Finding Boar

In order to tame the boar, players will first have to find them. These new Season 6 Fortnite NPCs can spawn almost anywhere on the map, but there are some guaranteed spots to find a few of these pigs to befriend. The best place to look is the boar pen, which is located in Colossal Crops Farm.

Where to find boar in Fortnite

Players will find that three boar always spawn in that area. However, boar can spawn almost anywhere on the map. They also tend to appear in and around Pleasant Park; if the pen at Colossal Crops Farm has already been cleaned out, players can most likely find at least one boar there.

Taming a Boar

While killing boar will earn players some materials for crafting, there is a Week 2 challenge that requires players to tame a boar to earn XP in Fortnite. Taming boar can be done in two ways. Players can either feed them or craft a cloak to make them friendly.

The first method is probably the simpler of the two. Before walking up to a boar in Fortnite, players must throw some corn at them. Once the boar is happily munching their snack, players can safely walk up to them without being attacked and press the interact button to tame them. If the boar finishes eating the corn before the player has a chance to interact with it, however, the boar will become aggressive and players may lose the chance to tame it.

The second method is a little more time consuming, but is a guaranteed way to get a pig to be friendly. First, players must kill NPC animals until they have two animal bones and one meat. After that, they can craft Fortnite's hunter's cloak. This cloak will allow players to walk right up to boar without triggering an attack. Befriending the boar is easy after that since players no longer have to worry about being attacked.

Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
