Fortnite's Fortnitemares Halloween event has been going on for a couple of weeks now, giving players the opportunity to take on not only human-controlled opponents, but computer-controlled monsters as well. The Fortnitemares event features exclusive cosmetic items that are unlocked by completing challenges, and with Halloween officially over, some may be wondering how much longer they have to unlock all of the limited-time content.
Luckily for Fortnite fans who haven't had a chance to participate as much in the Fortnitemares event as they may have liked, they still have a few days to jump into the action. The Fortnitemares event will end on November 4 at 1:00pm Eastern/10:00am Pacific, at which point major changes to the battle royale map are expected to take place.
The in-game reason for the monsters and the Corrupted Areas around the map is the mysterious Cube, which has been nicknamed "Kevin" by the Fortnite community. On November 4, the Cube is expected to explode or pull something into the map from a portal in the sky, an event that will in turn get rid of the AI monsters that are running around.
Some fans may be sad to see the Fortnitemares event come to an end, as it adds a unique PvE element to the battle royale experience. It also helps to better tie the battle royale mode to the lore found in Save the World mode, making Fortnite seem like a more cohesive package as opposed to two completely separate games. Not to mention it can completely change one's strategy and adds variety to the gameplay, especially at the end of matches when more powerful monsters start spawning.
While some fans may be disappointed to see Fortnitemares removed from Fortnite, that doesn't mean that the mode, or something similar, won't return in the future. After all, Epic Games is constantly adding new limited-time modes to Fortnite for fans to try out, and so it's not out of the realm of possibility that more PvPvE is on the way in some form.
Fortnite is out now in early access for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
