The Durrr Burger fast food joint is one of the most well-known locations on the Fortnite map. The restaurant's mascot - a burger with a face that has its tongue out - is so popular that developer Epic Games even added a line of Durrr Burger-themed cosmetics to the game. But while most fans seem to be on good terms with Durrr Burger, real-life fast food chain Wendy's is trying to start up a rivalry.

The Wendy's versus Durrr Burger "rivalry" began this week when a team of players representing the real-life restaurant teamed up and streamed Fortnite on Twitch. One of the standout moments of the stream was when the team of four headed to Durrr Burger and began smashing the restaurant to bits. After breaking the metal, "Durrr Burger" sign on the roof, the Wendy's team bashed through a wall and started to go to town on the place's appliances. Just to add insult to injury, one of the Wendy's players even threw a tomato at the restaurant - with the tomato representing Durrr Burger's other rival, the Pizza Pit.

According to Wendy's this is more than a casual fast food "beef" between itself and Durrr Burger. Wendy's is actively taking a side in the #TeamPizza and #TeamBurger debate created by Epic Games as part of the new Fortnite Food Fight game mode. In a tweet, Wendy's said that it is #TeamPizza "because Durrr Burger is full of freezers and we don’t clown around with the frozen beef." The tweet also jokes that the real fight isn't between burgers and pizza; it's all about the "war on frozen beef."

While plenty of other brands have tried to get involved with memes (and Fortnite) and have failed, for Wendy's it seems to have paid off. Fortnite has more than 200 million players across PC, consoles and mobile devices and thousands of them watched the stream and have since watched the clip of the war on Durrr Burger and its frozen beef.

In the replies to Wendy's tweet, a few Fortnite fans have also called for Epic Games to introduce official Wendy's skins. The Wendy's team improvised with its skins, just wearing red-colored outfits, but fans want something that really looks like the Wendy's mascot. It's unclear whether this request has reached Epic Games but considering that it introduced other branded cosmetics, including a line of NFL skins, a line of Wendy's skins isn't entirely off the cards.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS devices.
