Fortnite's frequent updates and constant map changes are some of the main things fans enjoy. The map keeps evolving in the game’s latest update, which sees water levels continue to fall and more locations freed up for players to wreak havoc on.

When Fortnite Season 3 began in mid-June, players were introduced to a waterlogged map with many locations submerged under the waves. This has led to several water-themed challenges, including a challenge to claim Aquaman's legendary Trident. But water levels have fallen with each update, revealing more of the map little by little. The trend continues in the July 24 update, with locations such as Weeping Woods and Sweaty Sands rising out of the water.

Weeping Woods was completely submerged just a few weeks ago, but is now drained and has returned to its normal state, with the area’s two main lodges fully accessible again and its name back on the map. Water has receded from other areas as well, including Sweaty Sands, where the streets that were once flooded have begun to dry. Logjam Woodworks is also flood-free.

While some areas have returned to normal, others are still flooded but are slowly rising out of the water, like Craggy Cliffs, which has seen water levels slowly begin to drop. Part of the crashed spaceship is now visible in the area, but players will have to wait a bit longer before they can actually get to it. Like Weeping Woods, the name of the location is once again visible on the map.

Some areas have started to rise out of the water but are still not completely back to normal. They include Dirty Docs, Slurpy Slump, and The Shark. Half of the Dirty Docs area is accessible to players again, and it looks like the area may be one update away from being free of water. Slurpy Swamp and The Shark likely still have a few more updates before they are back to normal, however. While water has started to recede in both locations, the areas are still mostly flooded. Another detail worth noting is the disappearance of the loot boat, which had previously circled the Flotilla area.

Other changes for the map tease the inclusion of cars. The Fortnite Season 3 trailer teased drivable cars as a feature, but developer Epic Games recently announced that vehicles in Fortnite have been delayed and may not be included in Season 3 at all. The buildings on the map still hint at the feature, however. The falling water levels have revealed new gas stations in each update, too, with one now located between Weeping Woods and Slurpy Swamp.

Fortnite is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox series X versions of the game are currently in development.
