Fortnite is a game that seems to always maintain its relevance despite constant imitators and competitors. In addition to its winning gameplay formula, Fortnite regularly receives substantial updates, preventing things from feeling too stale for too long. Such is the case with this week, with the game's latest update adding a new POI, new weapon, and more.

Epic Games' enduring battle royale title is now in the second month of its Chapter 3 Season 3. The "Vibin'" season has seen the post-IO island get a summer festival-like makeover, along with more ethereal locations made possible by the Reality Tree. Fortnite has been celebrating the 4th of July, adding the new Firework Flare Gun and re-adding Captain America to the item shop.

Fortnite's v21.20 update adds quite a few different pieces of content to the game. Arguably the biggest component of the update is the unlocking of the Indiana Jones skin. The timed exclusive skin of Chapter 3 Season 3's Battle Pass, players will be able to gain access to the legendary archeologist and his artifact accessories by completing special Indiana Jones Battle Pass quests. Rewards include things like the Raider's Relics Pickaxe, which is the Staff of Ra from the original Raiders of the Lost Ark film, along with plenty of other pertinent cosmetics.

Indiana Jones is just a plain old college professor without a temple to raid, so Fortnite has provided one with the inception of Shuffled Shrines. Confirming the previous leak of a major Fortnite map change, Shuffled Shrines has suddenly appeared on the island, located just to the west of The Joneses POI. Many of the aforementioned Indiana Jones Battle Pass quests are centered around the new map location, so players looking to unlock all of Indy's cosmetics will want to get familiar with the spot.

The other big piece of the new Fortnite update is the addition of the all-new Charge SMG. Attainable via the ground, Chests, Supply Drops, Reality Saplings, and sharks, the Charge SMG. Appearing to function similarly to the Charge Shotgun, players will be able to hold the fire button down to build up a partial or full charge, releasing a flurry of bullets in an extremely short amount of time. The addition of the new short-range weapon is bound to upset the rankings of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3's weapons.

Last but not least is the return of the fan favorite Port-A-Fort item. Dormant for many a season, the utility item spawns a steel fort wherever it is thrown. With Ripsaw Launcher Week ending, the build-shredding weapon is less prevalent on the island, making Port-A-Forts a boon to have in an inventory.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
