It looks like Fortnite Season 2 might finally be bringing the quality of life update that players have long been asking for. According to a rumor circulating on Twitter, the next big Fortnite update will introduce Locker Loadouts to the game, meaning that players can now finally save preset lists of gear.

The news comes by way of Twitter user HYPEX. HYPEX is a data miner who looks at the code of the Fortnite to figure out what is coming to the game next, even being the user behind the leak of the new Fortnite emote that came out earlier this month.  On Twitter, HYPEX shared lines of code that he says points to the inclusion of Locker Loadouts, as well as some concept art as to what this feature could look like.

Fortnite allows players a large amount of freedom when it comes to how they choose to present their in-game characters. Collectively known as gear, players can choose what skin their character is wearing, how the characters emote, what kind of pick-ax they carry, and even the parachute that they hold after jumping out of the battle bus. There's even a Rick Astley Rickroll Emote for players who love trolling. However right now, players can only have one gear loadout at a time, and there is no way to save their old ones. Hence the calls for Locker Loadouts.

Players have pointed to a number of other games that allow players to preset their loadouts when calling fo the implementation of a similar system in Fortnite. Considering that Epic Games is not above borrowing ideas from other games, having repeatedly lifted ideas from Apex Legends, it seems like Epic should have no problem adding this feature to Fortnite.

Perhaps Fortnite has been slow to implement this feature because it doesn't affect core gameplay. Call of Duty has had customizable loadouts for over a decade, but in that game, you have to pick your weapons before you go into battle. In Fortnite,  the loadout feature would only affect the aesthetic players select. But considering the number of awesome skins in the game, like the new Meowscles skin, it's unclear why Epic Games wouldn't make it easier for players to switch between their loadouts.

If these rumors prove to be true, Epic appears to be doing the right thing by fixing this glaring oversight. Locker Loadouts seem like a no brainer, and will make life easier for the players who love changing up their appearances and playing with all of the wonderful and whacky gear in Fortnite.

Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
