Last week, a datamining effort revealed that Fortnite was due to receive some rather creative skins, including the Tricera Ops, the Leviathan, and the Tomatohead. Now those skins are all available for purchase through the in-game store, as Epic added the Tomatohead outfit just a few hours ago.

Out of all the new Fortnite skins, the Tomatohead outfit seems as though it's gotten the most attention on social media. In response to Epic's announcement, a number of Twitter users pointed out how creepy the skin looks - a trait that seems to have boosted its popularity with Fortnite fans.

Of course, Fortnite fans that aren't made of money likely won't be able to pick up all the new skins recently added to the game, so it will be interesting to see which one ends up being the most popular. The Leviathan skin made some buzz when it launched in the game, and the Tircera Ops outfit is part of an aesthetically-pleasing collection that also includes the dinosaur-themed Bitemark pickaxe and the Fossil Glider.

What may help boost the popularity of the Tomatohead skin is the fact that it is based on an actual location in the game, Tomato Town. While it may not be nearly as popular as Tilted Towers, Tomato Town does see its fair share of foot traffic thanks to its proximity to Wailing Woods, which is known for having a lot of building resources. Tomato Town is also one of the most visually distinct locations in the entire Fortnite map, so releasing its mascot as a skin seems like something that will please hardcore fans of the game.

If the Tomatoman skin proves popular, Epic may be convinced to release skins based on other locations in the game. Maybe a Tilted Towers skin that references the comet theory is in order?

Fortnite is available now early in access on iOS, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
