Now that Epic Games has unveiled Update 5.3 for the wildly popular free-to-play title Fortnite Battle Royale, players are now able to enjoy a bunch of new features such as the new Limited Time Mode dubbed Score Royale, a fresh item named the Rift-To-Go, and more. Additionally, the map itself has been altered somewhat, with Epic having also used the latest patch to introduce a brand new area called Tomato Temple.

As seen in the compilation of screenshots below from the Fortnite Battle Royale fan and Redditor known as "iBrawler_", Tomato Temple has completely taken over the location once reserved for Tomato Town. What was once a quaint little town containing several fast-food restaurants and gas stations now has an elaborate Mayan-esque ruins area, with the grinning tomato-headed mascot's noggin returning to perch at the tip-top of the temple.

Not too long ago, a datamine uncovered files that potentially point to an actual event related to the Tomato Head mascot of Tomato Temple coming next week, with one of the strings discovered reading “eventType=EventFlag.BR_S5_Oddity_Tomato_Event”. While this has yet to be confirmed by Epic, there's a decent possibility of the developer deciding to herald the return of the Tomato Head mascot with a celebratory event of some kind.

Tomato Temple is quite a sizable addition to Fortnite's map, so fans will likely be spending pretty big chunk of time exploring all of the content that Epic included in the new area. After all, Season 5's other new spots – Lazy Links and Paradise Palms, for instance – are still heavily populated with players vying to turn over each and every stone for secrets while they fight for survival. With this being the case, expect Tomato Temple to be Fortnite's hottest drop-in spot for the time being.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with an Android beta test currently taking place.
