The next round of major content is right around the corner in Epic Games' wildly successful free-to-play multiplayer shooter, with Fortnite Battle Royale's Season 8 Week 9 is set to give way to Week 10 soon. As such, many are speculating what the developer could have planned for Season 9, with one theory making the rounds in the game's community suggesting that Tilted Towers may get destroyed by some kind of cataclysmic event.

Not too long ago, Fortnite was suffering from an issue that caused the areas of Tilted Towers and Retail Row to be stuck in a low texture state across all platforms, leading some fans to surmise that the problem was related to Epic preparing major changes for the regions. According to the studio, despite putting out a patch to address the issue, there are still player reports where the problem persists, with it occurring predominantly in in Fortnite's Avengers: Endgame mode and Playgrounds.

Interestingly enough, with both Tilted Towers and Retail Row both being affected by the low texture resolution bug, it has caused players to lend credence to certain rumors related to the long-time locations getting destroyed by Fortnite's volcano, which was introduced in Season 8. Apparently, if the leaks are to be believed, then a big eruption could happen in real time that would cause lava and volcanic rock to obliterate certain spots of Tilted Towers and Retail Row that could possibly turn them into newly named areas.

For those who haven't been keeping up with all of the content changes that have occurred throughout Fortnite's various seasons thus far, it's worth mentioning that both Tilted Towers and Retail Row have both gone through their fair share of respective evolutions. For instance, the former has seen destruction before, as Tilted Towers was battered with meteor strikes around the beginning of Season 4, while the latter has continually expanded the buildings of its shopping mall complex. So, it wouldn't be too outlandish if the areas receive some changes come Season 9.

All things considered, we will have to wait and see just what Epic has planned when it comes to any potential destruction coming to Tilted Towers and Retail Row. Fortnite Season 9 is fast approaching, so there's a good chance players will begin to see alterations to the game map go live right before Fortnite's next major cycle of content begins.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
