Epic Games’ smash hit and cultural phenomenon Fortnite is becoming known for its unique crossovers with other properties. Since the launch of the battle royale in 2017, Fortnite has collaborated with some of the biggest franchises in the world, such as Street Fighter, the NFL, and even massive pop culture icons and musicians like Ariana Grande. These collaborations generally include various skins for players to customize the look of their in-game avatar.

One of the latest skins brought into Fortnite came from DC Comics' The Suicide Squad film, to coincide with the launch of the movie which was just released on August 6. This selectable skin featured the character Bloodsport, who is an assassin and adversary of Superman. Played in the film by English actor Idris Elba, this version of the character is a mercenary armed with a high-tech suit and specialty weapons who is serving time in prison after shooting Superman with a kryptonite bullet.

With the release of the recent v17.40 patch, dataminers have found that there may be more The Suicide Squad characters coming to Fortnite as well. Leaker ShiinaBR believes that King Shark and Weasel are set to appear in the game in the near future.

While the mined data doesn’t show what the skins will actually look like, it does include codenames as well photos of the characters’ movie versions. Being that the skins have full codenames, SeesawSea and SeesawFuzzy, it is likely that these skins will actually see the light of day. When exactly this will happen remains to be discovered, however.

Fortnite has managed to create an absolutely massive fanbase by entering the red-hot battle royale market at the perfect time. With anywhere from six to twelve million players participating in the title on a given day, Fortnite has transcended mediums and attracted the attention of varying franchises from all sorts of sources. These different collaborations then bring in more players, opening up doors to even more agreements with different properties. Fortnite has also recently had a possible open-world RPG mode leak, creating rumors that Epic Games is looking to expand the game further.

Of course, Fortnite isn’t the only popular battle royale game with impressive player numbers. Call of Duty: Warzone is another competitive shooter that emphasizes a multitude of player skins for users to express themselves. Still, no other game has captured the attention of the mainstream media as much as Fortnite has, and its extensive unique events like full-blown Fortnite concerts from artists like Travis Scott and Marshmello continue to impress. With such an impressive variety of events and skins like the recent Suicide Squad collaboration, it is always exciting for players to see what is coming next.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
