In line with the upcoming release of Marvel's Avengers: Endgame in theaters this week, The Avengers are set to return to Epic Games' popular shooter game, Fortnite. Yesterday, the studio teased fans on the upcoming crossover event on Twitter showcasing Captain America's iconic shield.

Now, Epic Games is teasing the partnership once again with a weapon that fans of the Marvel universe are sure to be familiar with. The next piece of superhero paraphernalia that will be available in the crossover event is Thor's enchanted axe, known as the Stormbreaker. Similar to how Fortnite revealed Captain America's shield, the latest teaser also dons the upcoming movie's slogan, "Whatever it takes", followed by the date of April 25, 2019.

Although Epic Games did not specify how these items will work in the game, it is widely assumed that similar to previous cross-over events that introduced special items, players will likely be able to equip these items in a special limited-time mode. It is also worth knowing that if April 25, 2019, is the release date of the cross-over event, then it is likely that more teasers and hopefully more special items will be revealed in the coming days.

The upcoming tie-in will serve as the second Avengers-related update to Epic Games' Fortnite. To coincide with the release of Avengers: Infinity War last year, Fortnite partnered with Marvel Studios to include the powerful Thanos in the game, which resulted to the Infinity Gauntlet mode, allowing players to wield the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet.

Of course, combining the gigantic film franchise with one of the most popular games in the world is understandably a smart marketing strategy for both parties. However, it seems that Fortnite's on-going popularity has been causing issues in some territories and it is now banned in countries such as China, and most recently, Iraq. The Iraqui Parliament justified its decision to ban the game, due to growing concerns regarding negative implications of video games on "the health, culture, and security of Iraqi society, including societal and moral threats to children and youth."

Fortnite is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
