Things are starting to get exciting as Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 comes to a close. Season 2 is set to begin on February 20, 2020, and fans have been eagerly anticipating whatever is on the way.

Epic has been known to tease the new seasons of Fortnite in various ways, and this time it looks like real-life advertisements are starting to pop-up around the world featuring glitchy aesthetics, gold, and even cat sounds.

Epic has had real-world teases in the past - specifically, leading up to Season 5 fans found landmarks scattered about like a giant Durr Burger. In the instance leading up to Season 2 of Chapter 2, fans are finding mysterious advertisements in cities across the world. Some of the advertisements are static images, and some are live and include audio and slight animation.

The first sighting seems to have been recorded in Brazil, and is therefore in Portuguese. Fans have been scouring their own cities for similar advertisements and have had success. Right now anyone can call the phone number 1-213-262-0993, which is a 213 area code so phone rates may apply, and players will get a cryptic and interesting message, which is something that Epic likes to place into the Fortnite lore. The message will say, "Agency recruitment drive is a go. Happy hunting agents. The oil rig operation is a go." This may or may not be the same note that others hear anywhere around the globe, however, some suggest that the message is slightly different depending on the language including notes about gold, keys, and even cat sounds.

The image on the advertisement itself depicts a gold handprint across the Fortnite logo. Some recent leaks have pointed to the possibility of a King Midas themed skin or plot, which would make sense with the gold handprint. Around the same time that rumored images were found of a possible Fortnite map change, items within the actual game were found to have been changed to solid gold. And when players boot up the game, there is currently a cryptic and glitchy looking message that matches the theme of the real-life ads.

This King Midas theme would again coincide with the idea that things are changing to gold, which may end up being a heavy premise in Season 2 of Chapter 2. Some players are wondering if a new and fourth material - gold - could even arrive in the new season. A gold theme and a possible Fortnite flood theme are two of the top current theories floating around.

Fans are yet again playing a real-life game of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego to search for clues about what may be upcoming for Fortnite. If the online sleuthing, in-game changes, and real-world advertisements are combined, it can be suggested that this new season could involve gold, oil rigs, keys, King Midas, agents and a cat. All will be discovered soon when Fortnite Season 2 Chapter 2 launches on February 20, 2020 in just a few days.

Fortnite is out now for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, Xbox One, iOS, and PC.
