With Ryan Reynold's Free Guy premiering in theaters this weekend, Epic Games is celebrating by putting out new Fortnite quests that will reward players with a Good Guy Emote upon completion. These quests work similarly to the other Fortnite quests every week, and one of them requires players to take melee damage from an opponent during a battle royale match. By using this guide, players will find an easy solution to get this quest done quickly.

Taking melee damage in Fortnite means that a player has to get attacked by another player's Harvesting Tool, which is their default Fortnite pickaxe or whatever cosmetic they currently have equipped. The NPCs in Fortnite will not attack players with a melee weapon, so players will need to be hit by an actual player.

How to Take Melee Damage in Fortnite

The best way to take melee damage in Fortnite is by getting very close to another player as soon as they land from the Battle Bus. Before players exit the flying bus, they should only jump out when a group of opponents jumps out as well. This way, players can follow an opponent down to the ground to initiate a fight. If players land by another player, neither of them will have any weapons besides their melee weapon.

Fortnite fans should immediately begin to swing their own melee weapon at the enemy to make them retaliate. If they don't have a weapon on them, they will have no choice but to attack the player with a pickaxe or simply run away. More times than not, the player will begin to start swinging as well. To complete the quest, players will only need to get hit once. After they get attacked, they can either defeat the opponent that attacked them or just run away from them.

Players will earn EXP upon completion and can move on to other quests for the week, or they can perhaps search for the latest batch of Alien Artifacts. There are five new ones to collect this week, and they reward players with XP and new unlockable styles for the Kymera outfit. They are typically difficult to find without help, but using Game Rant's guide can certainly help players get all of them quickly.

Fortnite is currently available as a free-to-play game on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
