Many would argue that Fortnite was the Battle Royale game to really set to formula for being free to play and selling microtransactions. In addition to various cosmetic items and skins, the game quickly adopted a seasonal battle pass system back in 2017 allowing players to earn even more stuff just for playing after purchasing it. It's a model that other rival games like Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone have closely followed to much success of their own. However, it appears that Epic Games is now interested in adding a subscription based service as well.

The details come from Fortnite leaker MarDIt_ who shared information from a recent survey sent out by Epic Games. According to the captured images from the survey, Epic Games appears to be testing the waters for an upcoming subscription service called the Monthly Crew Pack, asking users to rate the various aspects of it.

The included image shows the pack including access to the Battle Pass, 1,000 V-Bucks each month, as well as early access to a Crew Ninja outfit pack that includes additional an style, Back Bling, and pickaxe. Interestingly enough, the survey also includes a different version of the Monthly Crew Pack, replacing the outfit pack with the recently revealed Ghost Rider skin.

Epic also appears to be curious as to what players would be comfortable paying for this subscription service. A number of questions in the survey are dedicating to asking the user if they'd be interested in subscribing for various prices ranging from $4.99 all the way to $18.99.

Naturally, the reveal has certainly sparked a reaction from players, who took to the Fortnite subReddit to discuss. Some see the value of the service as long as it is priced right, while others question whether they'd really want to pay something like $30-$45 a season when they're perfectly happy with simply spending the ten bucks on the Battle Pass. Either way, this appears to be something that is coming regardless, though it'll be interesting to see what the data from the survey shows regarding the eventual price point.

For now, Mac and iOS users can snag a unique deal from Epic Games as the company is offering free V-Bucks to those users. As a result of the current legal battle between Epic Games and Apple, Fortnite users on those platforms are unable to play via the app. So to entice players to continue playing on a different platform, Epic is gifting bonus V-Bucks to spend elsewhere. The bonus grant is expected to be finished by November 9.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
