Back in October, Epic Games began testing a brand new Fortnite feature called Support-A-Creator. This feature would allow players to support creators of content related to the title (Twitch streamers, YouTubers, etc.) when they purchase things on the in-game store.

While the initial rollout of Support-A-Creator was just a temporary test, Epic Games has now confirmed that the feature is becoming permanent. In a blog post announcing the permanent availability of the feature, Epic confirmed that Fortnite fans had shown an "amazing" response to Support-A-Creator. It confirmed that "millions" of players had used the feature, and that more than 10,000 Fortnite content creators had been able to benefit from it.

It's unclear exactly how much money content creators have earned since Epic first introduced Fortnite's Support-A-Creator feature. However, it previously said that creators accepted to the program would receive $5 (or equivalent local currency) for every 10,000 V-Bucks that players spend. This includes free V-Bucks and V-Bucks that they've purchased, too, so it stands to reason that creators have made a substantial amount of money from the program already.

For content creators, the extension of Support-A-Creator couldn't come at a better time. Epic Games is just days away from pressing the "launch" button on Fortnite Season 7, which is expected to have a wintry, holiday theme. Like the content cycles before it, Season 7 is expected to introduce lots of new cosmetic unlocks that include skins, back bling, and emotes. Players will have a lot more reasons to spend their V-Bucks then, which will, in turn, benefit those creators.

Many may see this as an additional reason to get into the Fortnite content creation game. Fortnite is already the biggest game on YouTube and is one of the most popular games on Twitch, even though its viewership is waning on the streaming site. This means that there is already a huge amount of potential to make money from playing the game and showing off gameplay exploits. Support-A-Creator will only encourage creators to get involved if it means that their fans have an additional way to support them, besides donations.

Epic stands to benefit from this as well, for with more people creating Fortnite content, there's a chance for more exposure, which would help the company grow the game's 200 million-strong player base even further. Plus, if more people feel inclined to spend V-Bucks, they will also be invested in the game for longer, which could benefit Epic's bottom line in the long-run.

Fortnite is available for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
