While most Fortnite players are focused on the start of Season 7 and the introduction of the new snow biome to the map in Battle Royale, Epic has introduced something even more special into the game's Save the World component. The 7.0.0 patch added the final act of Canny Valley, the conclusion to the Stand and Fight campaign, and with Act 3 comes the multiplayer shooter's first "Final Boss," the Storm King.

With the introduction of the Storm King, Epic is rightfully celebrating the conclusion of a narrative arc that has been a long time in the making. And as part of that celebration, Epic's inviting dedicated Fortnite: Save the World players to partake in an array of unique rewards. Today, Epic unveiled its plans for the official Storm King event, including the opportunity for players to earn a free real-world pin for defeating the boss.

Every Fortnite: Save the World player that's able to level up, gear up, take on the Storm King, and come out victorious before January 1, 2019 will earn an exclusive Storm King pin. This pin will be sent to victorious players entirely for free. Just make sure to have a linked Epic Games account with a valid email address, multi-factor authentication enables, and to have the Stand and Fight campaign completed and the Storm King Pin quest active.

In addition to the Storm King pin reward, Epic has plenty of rewards just for completing the quest. After all, it wouldn't be Fortnite: Save the World if it didn't have bit of repetition to it. The current narrative arc may be over, but there are more stories to tell and more loot to grind. Here are the rewards Epic has planned for dedicated Storm King slayers:

  • First Storm King Victory: Anthony, the final member of Steel Wool, a Legendary Weapon Schematic, a RE-PERK, and an Epic PERK-UP.
  • Daily Storm King Victory: A Miniboss Mission Alert Reward
  • Every Storm King Victory: A Survivor, Hero or Schematic XP, plus 4-5 Caches containing a mix of Epic or Legendary Schematics, Perk Materials, and Evolution Materials.

Epic also makes it clear that while the Storm King appears to be defeated for now, this isn't the final time Save the World players will see him. Epic plans for the Storm King to make more appearances, "both in earlier zones... and later ones!"

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
