Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 4 is packed with superhero content from Marvel Comics. The new Battle Pass features superhero skins such as Iron Man, She-Hulk, and Wolverine. Season 4 has also introduced new Marvel locations like Stark Industries across the map, as well as superhero powers. Now, the item shop has updated to add an exclusive item from another popular Disney-owned franchise.

Star Wars is returning to Fortnite with the new X-Wing Glider, available in the item shop for 1,200 V-Bucks as of this writing. When Fortnite previously teamed up with Disney for Star Wars content, characters from The Last Jedi like Rey and Kylo Ren had exclusive skins, and players could get their hands on the Y-Wing Bomber Glider. Players can now get the X-Wing as a glider, which was famously used by Luke Skywalker during the Death Star trench run.

Star Wars cosmetic in Fortnite are often released as promotions for an upcoming movie or video game, like a Stormtrooper skin being added for the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The X-Wing Glider is available for Star Wars: Squadrons, which releases on October 2nd. Players can get the glider for free by pre-ordering Star Wars: Squadrons.

At the same time the X-Wing Glider was added to the Fortnite item shop, EA released an animated short detailing the story behind Star Wars: Squadrons. The short features a space dogfight with an X-Wing and a TIE fighter, so it makes sense that both the Fortnite glider and this animated short released at the same time.

This could be the start of a promotion that may bring more Star Wars: Squadrons-related items into Fortnite. Star Wars: Squadrons is based around spacecraft combat, so if any more cosmetics appear in Fortnite, they would likely be Star Wars spacecrafts, or skins related to the new game's main characters or pilot attire.

Much like most other gliders, the player holds on to bars at the bottom. Unlike the previous Y-Wing glider, the X-Wing actually features a little replica R2 unit for some company while choosing the best place to land. The combination of Marvel-themed cosmetics and Star Wars cosmetics may produce some interesting situations never seen before, like Groot gliding down to Stark Industries using an X-Wing.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and some mobile devices, with PS5 and Xbox Series X support planned.
