Fortnite's Chapter 2 has been out for a few months now, following the black hole event that shut down Epic's Battle Royale for almost two days. One of the techniques that Epic has been using to keep the game fresh during this time is its crossover events. From Fortnite x Stranger Things to Fortnite x Batman, Epic's pop-culture crossovers have been an effective way to introduce themed skins, timed rewards and desirable loot.

The latest of these crossovers is out now, and pairs the game with what is probably its biggest partner yet. Fortnite x Star Wars is one of the most ambitious crossover events we've seen, introducing new skins, lightsaber pickaxes, an in-game screening of a scene from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker movie, and a special glider that can only be earned during the screening.

Let's All Go to the Movies

Kylo Ren is a divisive figure in the latest Star Wars movies, with some mocking his teenage angst, while others praise him for giving the Dark Side a more relatable face. What no one can deny however, is that he's got a pretty slick ride in his specially-modified TIE Whisper. A glider-sized copy of this souped-up version of the TIE Intercepter is exactly what Fortnite players can earn by participating in tonight's live event.

The live-screening begins at 10:30 AM PT / 1:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM GMT, and any player wishing to take part should head to the Risky Reels area before then in order to get a spot in the queue. Simply watching the screening, a thus-far unreleased scene for the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will be enough to earn the glider.

Not Getting Shot

Epic has yet to confirm whether the screening will take place in a limited-time mode, but given that they want people to be able to watch the scene uninterrupted, its safe to assume it will be. This means that, just like with the end of season cinematics, it will be possible to start the event in a special game-mode that removes weapons and raises the time limit, giving players plenty of time to congregate and watch the scene.

Although a few skins have dropped already, the rest of the Fortnite x Star Wars event will probably become available after the live screening. This should help to remove any potential distractions from the screening, as players won't need to worry about grinding out challenges for limited-time rewards until it's all over.

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
