Spring 2021 has arrived, and Fortnite is taking full advantage of the season. The title has just announced its Spring Breakout event, which will see the addition of seasonally-themed skins, quests, weapons, and more to the island.

Epic Games' popular free-to-play battle royale is entering its third week of Season 6. Dubbed "Primal," the new season has seen many changes to Fortnite's meta, including the addition of various fauna, a primal weapon crafting system, geographic alterations, and other somewhat divisive changes.

Set to launch on March 30, the Spring Breakout event adds several "eggcellent" new characters to Fortnite, including a pastel-suited bunny and Webster, a robotic duck that looks like a hellish reanimated Chuck E. Cheese animatronic. Webster actually offers players the first Legendary Quest of the season, with the in-game reward being the Tactical Quaxes Pickaxe, dual duck-themed maces. The Spring Breakout event also marks the return of the Egg Launcher, which players will remember popped up around the same time last year. Additionally, a new type of forageable egg will become available as well, and is said to grant an effect similar to when the hop rock dualies are equipped.

As part of the Spring Breakout event, Fortnite is also introducing the Spring Breakout Cup. Filling in for Friday Night Bragging Rights on Friday, April 2, the duos competition gives teams three hours to compete in up to 10 matches to earn points. The top point-earners from each server region will be among the first to get the Webster Outfit and Mecha-Feathers Back Bling. Pairs looking to compete in the cup must both at least be Level 30, and have two-factor authentication enabled, so players will need to have made some progress already if they wish to qualify.

Fortnite has been on a roll with in-game events as of late. In addition to Spring Breakout, the battle royale is currently in the midst of its Llama-Rama 2021 crossover event with Rocket League. The event gives players the opportunity to complete challenges in Rocket League during Llama-Rama in order to earn themed cosmetics for both games. Popular EDM artist Kaskade held an in-game concert in Fortnite this past weekend as part of the multi-title celebration as well.

The various new springtime-themed content coming to Fortnite is certainly in-season, with Webster poised to become a fan-favorite. However, some fans may not bee too keen on the anthropomorphic skins, especially those with mechanophobia. Fortunately, a recent survey may point towards upcoming crossovers, a sign that Epic Games isn't slowing down on that front anytime soon.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
