Epic Games introduces the latest limited time event into Fortnite, bringing back Spring Breakout complete with Easter themed cosmetics, quests, and rewards. It's been a pretty busy season already for Fortnite, which introduced the Mega season a few weeks back. The update added a cyberpunk style futuristic city called Mega City which came with a new grind rail system, vehicles, and new weapons like the devastating and fast moving Fortnite Kinetic Blade.

As a live service title, Epic Games is always tweaking the game and its available content to ensure it continues feeling fresh and getting players to log in each day. Of course, it has big seasonal updates with new battle pass content, though Epic Games has also relied heavily on limited time crossovers and events. Attack on Titan is the most recent crossover with Eren Jaeger and now, a new limited time event is celebrating the end of winter.

Alongside update 24.10 for Fortnite, Epic Games is bringing back the Spring Breakout event for 2023. As expected, this means the return of the vaulted Egg Launcher, which can be found all over the island through chests, supply drops, on sale from NPC characters, as well as just regular ground loot. New Reality Augments have also been added and players can now recruit friendly NPC specialists to help out, each one with a different role to play from medic or scout, to an explosives expert and supply specialist.

For many fans, the major appeal for Spring Breakout is all of the new free content and XP that is coming to Fortnite. New quests will be added daily, offering XP rewards for those that finish them as well as special Locker items including a Bloomback Sack Back Bling, Shell Smash Spray, The Works loading screen, and A Spring Breakout banner icon on specific days. However, players can also earn special gear for finishing a set number of challenges including the Nannerbloom Hammer Pickaxe for finishing 12, and then the Fresh Flyer Glider for completing 22 in total.

With quests arriving daily and rewards tied to completing various challenges, players are certainly encouraged to log in every day. Regardless of the spring themed rewards, the bonus ways to collect XP should go a long way to helping players continue to complete Fortnite's Chapter 4 Season 2 battle pass and earn the various skins.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the issue involving players being asked to install Save the World even if they already had it installed.
  • Fixed the issue with the Kinetic Blade's Knockback Slash that prevented the owner from taking fall damage. (Note: The Dash Attack will still prevent fall damage.)
  • Fixed an issue that was capping some mobile devices to 60 FPS despite 90 FPS being available.
  • The grind rail interaction button no longer has a delay on mobile devices.
