There are very few games that excel in crossover content quite like Fortnite. While there have been plenty of video game crossovers, with characters from different movies and TV shows appearing in games like Fall Guys and Rocket League, none have done so the extent or ambition of Fortnite, which goes out of its way to tie many of the crossover elements into the game’s ever-expanding story.

Since the game launched in September 2017, Fortnite has been a staple of the Battle Royale genre, with players fighting for domination of who can be the last one standing. Over time, this concept has taken on a meta-narrative purpose, with the series taking place in a wide multiverse full of characters from a variety of franchises such as Alien, Street Fighter, Halo, and even Star Wars.

The major recurring crossover characters that appear in Fortnite are the comic-book characters from both the Marvel and DC universe. Both Marvel and DC have had large-scale crossovers with Fortnite, with DC publishing a canonical comic series in which Batman teams up with The Foundation, and Marvel had its own dedicated Battle Pass during Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4.

These crossovers have continued ever since, with a handful of characters appearing in each Battle Pass release. The most recent pass of Chapter 3 Season 1 contains Spider-Man, with plenty of the hero’s villains like Venom and the Green Goblin appearing in the item shop as well. And now it seems that some of Spidey’s allies will be joining the game as well.

A post on Twitter from credible leaker Shiina, in collaboration with users InTheShade and FMBRintel, revealed that Mary Jane Watson, the long-running love interest of Peter Parker, will be coming to Fortnite as a new character skin. Sadly, any other details about the character’s inclusion, from new back blings to pickaxes, have not been revealed yet.

This is technically not the first time that Mary Jane has appeared in Fortnite, with the Zendaya version of the character from Spider-Man: No Way Home appearing alongside a new Spider-Man skin based on Tom Holland’s version in the game to promote the then-upcoming film. This version of Mary Jane, however, appears to be more in line with the character's appearance in the comics and is an excellent translation of the character’s design to Fortnite’s art style.

With plenty of other comic book characters slated to appear in Fortnite soon, such as a rumored new collaboration with DC’s The Batman, it’ll be exciting to see another famous Marvel character join the fight.

Fortnite is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
