Today, Epic Games released a new teaser for Fortnite Season 7, and it's clear that something chilling is coming to the game soon. "Bitter ice spreads, 3 days to Season 7" is the full message from the developer, with the statement acting as a subtitle for an image featuring a giant icy, crowned, and hooded figure. As indicated in the picture above, under the figure's hood are glowing eyes. What's more is that along the hood's edges are icy shapes, as well as a character seemingly skiing. So, it looks as if both Season 7 and winter are coming to Fortnite.

For those unaware, Fortnite is currently wrapping up Season 6, which has brought plenty of changes to the title. From the mysterious cube dissolving into the lake to the new Stonehenge area, the free-to-play battle royale game continues to change in dramatic and exciting ways right in front of players' eyes, and Season 7 looks to continue that trend.

Looming off the south-west edge of Fortnite's map and enshrouded in clouds is what's being dubbed the "Iceberg." Atop that iceberg is a small keep, and only recently have the lights within that castle turned on. Someone or something lives within the keep, and we may now have a hint towards who it is.

The aforementioned icy, crowned figure seems to be a prime candidate of who or what's living inside of the castle, and judging from their demeanor in the teaser image, they aren't likely to be friendly. Some rumors associate the coming iceberg with the recently released A.I.M. robot skin, though it's currently unclear if there is any connection there whatsoever. That said, whatever lurks on the iceberg, players won't have to wait too long to find out about it.

As if the pending start of Fortnite's Season 7 wasn't exciting enough, it appears that Epic Games will be making a big announcement and reveal at The Game Awards 2018. Geoff Keighley confirmed that Epic Games' own Fortnite creative director Donald Mustard will be taking the stage at the award show. Mustard will bring a world premiere trailer with him, and perhaps even give additional story and context to the changes coming with Season 7.

What players can actually expect at the start of Season 7 remains a mystery, but there is one theory that suggests the iceberg will turn into a major landmass that will join with the rest of the Fortnite map. This snowy, icy addition would fit into the map's currently oddly shaped south-eastern corner and could feature a mountainous landscape. As teased, players would potentially be able to ski or snowboard down these mountainsides. As evidenced by previous seasons, almost anything can happen in Fortnite, so it's best not to assume too much. After all, Season 7 is just three days away.

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
