In all of its popularity, Fortnite always seems to be making headlines, but this time it’s because of a bug affecting shotgun critical damage. Fortnite players have taken to Reddit to bring attention to a crippling bug that causes shotguns not to register critical damage.

Epic Games' dev team has since responded, saying that they are currently investigating the issue, but it's unclear how long it may take to fix. Some would argue that shotguns have been inconsistent for a long time, and so this is nothing new. The fact that Epic has responded to tangible evidence, however, suggests change might be in the works.

Shotguns in Fortnite always seem to be in the spotlight for one reason or another, as they are currently extremely popular among players. Even with this bug, shots are extremely powerful, but at the moment the inconsistency with critical damage makes them extremely broken. Recently, shotguns had their rarity reclassified, but the stats of the weapons were not changed so this likely has no effect on the damage.

Alongside the shotgun reclassification, Epic Games introduced the guided missile, which can be ridden solo for some fun shenanigans. Some players are worried, however, that the weapon will be too powerful in skilled hands. Players will essentially be able to build fortresses, and then rain guided rockets down from their hiding spots. The update also included the limited time Sniper Shootout v2 mode, more interesting outfits, and general quality of life fixes for both Battle Royale and Save the World modes.

The Fortnite community has recently been rallying together to figure out what secrets the mysterious meteor in the sky holds. Fans now speculate that the meteor will crash into the Tilted Towers, likely on April 18, which aligns with the Lyrids Meteor shower.

It’s good to see Epic Games staying tuned in to what the community is saying, and responding accordingly. With how quickly they turn around updates for Battle Royale, this shotgun-breaking bug should be fixed soon.

Fortnite is available now for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
