Fortnite Battle Royale's frequent addition of new content has been stepped up a notch recently, adding not just new weapons but new methods of transportation like the Jetpack. The latest method of transport - a Shopping Cart - is proving popular with players, but brings with it a peculiar game-breaking bug.

Shopping Carts were added to the game as a part of Fortnite's v4.3 update, which also brings Mushrooms, a consumable which grants players +5 to their shield. Blitz, a Limited Time Mode which offers players a more fast-paced Battle Royale, was also included in the update, making its return with some minor changes and improvements.

Fortnite has seen its fair share of bugs in its time, such as a recent one which turns items invisible when dropped. Minor glitches like these are pretty much inevitable with a game that adds game-changing new content as often as Fortnite does, but it's fair to say that the game has never seen a bug quite on the same scale as the one involving Shopping Carts.

The bug seems to occur when a player attempts to ride a Shopping Cart, at which point they fall through the map. This would be unremarkable, except that when this occurs, every single other player on the map drops dead. The killfeed displays each death as a Shopping Cart kill, attributed to the player who fell through the map. The strange bug can be seen in action in this video:

As can be seen in the video, the winner of the match is strangely suspended in space, with a total of 85 kills - all with the Shopping Cart. So far, this bug has only been replicated on PC, with some people suggesting that it is limited to Mac players only. The good news is that incidents have been relatively rare so far, so players shouldn't worry themselves about being spontaneously murdered by phantom Shopping Carts just yet.

Because of the bug's relatively minor effectiveness on the Fortnite player base, it's unlikely that we will be seeing the Shopping Cart suffer the same fate as the Guided Missile Launcher, which Epic Games decided to remove from the game due to balancing issues. It's likely that Epic will instead simply hotfix the issue, leaving players to enjoy as much deadly Shopping Cart action as their hearts desire.

Fortnite Battle Royale is free to play on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Mobile.
