The latest Fortnite update has brought back the temporarily disabled and controversial Shockwave Hammer melee weapon, vaulted burst assault rifle, and more. The Shockwave Hammer was removed from Fortnite playlists just a day ago after some community backlash. Many Fortnite players are already dropping into matches with the Shockwave Hammer once again after a small update that includes some other adjustments. Because the Shockwave Hammer is a new weapon that was introduced in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, there are some issues that have yet to be adjusted. Unlike the aforementioned melee weapon, the burst assault rifle has come and gone from Fortnite since the early days of Chapter 1, which has allowed Epic Games to balance it more effectively, and the latest update doesn't change it much.RELATED: Fortnite x Pokemon Trailer Fools Fans on Social MediaThe Fortnite News Twitter account and others have confirmed the Shockwave Hammer's return to the battle royale's playlists today, which may suggest that Epic Games has resolved the issue associated with its bounce. The Shockwave Hammer was vaulted for just a day after a Fortnite player discovered that they could use it for powerful jumps more often than Epic Games intended, letting them traverse the battle royale island much faster than they should have. In order to rectify the issue, Epic Games even took Fortnite servers offline on January 9 for about an hour.

Alongside the Shockwave Hammer and burst AR, the recent Fortnite update also brings back hurdling which was temporarily disabled by Epic Games due to its own issues which have presumably been fixed. Although some players are expressing their enthusiasm for the return of Fortnite's hurdling with the patch, others are lamenting the Shockwave Hammer's quick arrival back into Fortnite playlists. This update also marks the end of Fortnite's Reboot Rally, an in-game event that ran from the end of December into early January that rewarded players with free cosmetic goodies for completing challenges.

Although the return of Fortnite's Shockwave Hammer suggests that the known problems associated with it are fixed, there may be some lingering issues that remain. Given that it took Fortnite fans about a month to discover the Shockwave Hammer exploit, players may see fewer questionable moments involving the weapon than before the hotfix.

Fortnite is available now for Mac, mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
