This Halloween, Fortnite is celebrating with a big, Fortnitemares event. It has creepy ghosts, candy, witch brooms, and features the return of Fortnite's Midas as a shadowy specter. Players can kill ghostly Midas in the game (again) for some XP in one of the Fortnitemares' challenges.

Much earlier this year, players had to battle against the gold-obsessed man named Midas. He was part of the spy network that took over the Fortnite map back in Q1 of 2020. He set off the Device, drowning half the map and killing himself in the process to end the war between the Ghosts and the Shadows. But this spy isn't done with the Fortnite map; players will now have to battle the specter of Midas who is currently haunting the battle royale.

Shadow Midas' Location

Along with the challenges to ride a witch's broom, eat candy, and deal damage with a possessed Fortnite vehicle, players will have to re-murder the Shadow version of Midas to complete the Fortnitemares challenges. Midas will also spawn at Ruins, where the Authority once stood before Midas himself activated the device. While he does scout the whole ruined grounds of the previous Authority, players should look for him around doorways and stairs.

Thankfully, players don't have to do anything special in Fortnite to detect this shadow character. He can be distinguished from everyone else around him by his glowing eyes.

How to Kill Midas

Killing the ghostly Midas again isn't as difficult as it sounds. Players don't have to do a séance or anything to get rid of the spirit; no, this haunting will be solved by bullets just like any other enemy in Fortnite. The best weapons for this battle will be powerful, fast shooting weapons with a lot of ammo, like an AR or SMG. Players can also snipe Shadow Midas with a long-distance, high powered sniper rifle, but they'll have to wait until he steps outside the front door of the Ruins to catch him, which can take a while.

Lucky for players, Midas doesn't have any special attacks, so all players really need to win is ammo, maybe something to heal or regen shields, and a little time. He has quite a bit of health, but a steady stream of bullets will tear him and any henchmen nearby down pretty quickly. After that, players will be free to work on the rest of the challenges for Fortnitemares 2020.

Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
