After months of Fortnite players battling it out in snow-covered landscapes, the winter-themed Season 7 is finally coming to a close. Fortnite Season 8 is right around the corner, and thanks to the PlayStation Event page, we now know when it's going to start and when it's going to end.

Fortnite Season 8 will kick off on February 28 sometime in the morning after 4:00am Eastern time (likely 9:00am Eastern). And according to the PlayStation Event page, it will last until Tuesday, May 7 at 8:00pm Eastern. Along with the start and end dates for Fortnite Season 8, the event page also says "'X' marks the spot," which is further evidence that the new season will have a pirate theme.

It's worth pointing out that Epic Games has yet to offer an official word on when Fortnite Season 8 will end, so fans should wait for an announcement. It's also possible that the planned end date for Season 8 will change, as we saw with Season 7. Fortnite Season 7 had a special Overtime period where it gave players an extra couple of weeks to complete all of the Season 7 challenges, in addition to some brand new Overtime Challenges with special rewards.

The Overtime Challenges in Fortnite give players the opportunity to unlock unique cosmetics, not to mention a free battle pass. If players manage to complete at least 13 of the Overtime Challenges, they will be able to tackle all of Season 8's challenges and unlock all its new rewards without having to spend any V-Bucks, which is a nice touch.

As for what Season 8 will have in store exactly, that's still somewhat up in the air. As previously stated, a pirate theme has been teased, but so have beasts. Teasers released by Epic Games have suggested that Fortnite players may be encountering things like giant snakes or fire-breathing dragons, which could put an interesting spin on the battle royale formula, to say the least.

Fortnite Season 8 will also be dealing with increased competition from the hugely popular Apex Legends, so Epic Games may very well make this season even crazier than the last few. Fans will find out exactly what Season 8 has in store when it goes live in the game tomorrow, February 28, sometime after 4:00am Eastern.

Fortnite is out now in early access for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
