Fortnite's season-ending event happened over the weekend, and now that Season 8 is here, aptly titled Cubed, many changes have been made to the battle royale island. One of the things that have been changed is how players take on Fortnite's weekly quests and challenges. To start an NPCs questline, Fortnite players will need to visit the NPC at least once and complete each quest. Some players might not know where to forage mushrooms for Madcap's questline, but this short guide will help.

Where to Find Madcap in Fortnite

So that Fortnite players can start the quest, they should seek out an NPC called Madcap. They can be found just west of Corny Crops inside a building by the edge of the river. Once players speak to him, they'll be tasked with finding two mushrooms somewhere on the island.

How to Find Mushrooms in Fortnite Season 8

To find some mushrooms easily, Fortnite fans should head on over to the Weeping Woods point of interest in the southwestern region of the map. In the northern section of the area, by the river, players can find blue mushrooms just lying around on the ground, ready for the taking. When players find the mushrooms, they can choose to either eat them or just collect them. Either way, as long as two mushrooms are found, the quest will be completed, and players will need to continue the quests from Madcap.

As there is a chance for other players to show up to complete the quest, too, players should be prepared with at least a decent gun or two, just in case any trouble crops up. Foraging mushrooms shouldn't take players too long at all, but it never hurts to be well-equipped.

As far as what else has changed on the island, there's a new area called The Sideways. This area will change for every game, like the Abductors in Season 7, and can be found on the map by a large red circle. If players go inside The Sideways, they can find rare loot known as Sideways weapons, but there are many enemies inside these areas, too, so players need to watch their backs as they search the low-gravity zone for chests and other goodies.

Fortnite is currently free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
